| Description: | Abstract: Prelimenary results on the geomorphology, architecture, and chronology of coastal alluvial fans in Northern Chile are presented on the poster. The coastal alluvial fan Guanillos was studied in detail. Morphological features, morphostratigraphic units, and a first geochronological framework are shown. According to the numerical age results, the fan might be deposited on the MIS 5e marine terrace and shows alluvial activity in Late Pleistocene times (MIS 3). Additionally, 14C ages from the oldest terrace generation indicate strong alluvial activity during the past centuries. |
